New year, New you... but actually?

<strong>New year, New you... but actually?</strong>

New Year, new you, right? Everyone’s been there, decided to be healthy and fit THIS year, being super inspired and motivated to make a change in the beginning of the year, but never actually following through. Even if you are, joining a gym is not always do-able, modesty, responsibilities, work, family, expensive, commitment, all these things can get in the way. 

We've compiled a list of exercises that you could do without the hassle of joining a gym, so you can meet this new years resolution successfully!

1. Walking

Any exercise program should include cardiovascular exercise, which strengthens the heart and burns calories. And walking is something you can do anywhere, anytime, with no equipment other than a good pair of shoes.

It's not just for beginners, either: Even the very fit can get a good workout from walking.

Tip: It's better to lengthen your walks gradually before boosting your speed or incline.

 2. Interval Training

Whether you're a beginner or an exercise master, interval training will boost your fitness level and help you shed the weight you’re looking to lose.

The way to do it is to push the intensity or pace for a minute or two, then back off for anywhere from two to -10 minutes, up to you for how long, whenever you feel ready. Continue doing this throughout the workout.

3. Squats

Whether at home, at the gym or anywhere really, squats can be done. All you need is an imaginary chair. This exercise takes that movement and tones your muscles and burn calories.

For perfect form, keep feet shoulder-width apart and back straight. Bend knees and lower your rear, aim to keep your knees in line above your ankles.

4. Lunges

Like squats, lunges too are an exercise that can be done anywhere

Take a big step forward, keeping your spine in a neutral position. Bend your front knee to approximately 90 degrees, focusing on keeping weight on the back toes and dropping the knee of your back leg toward the floor.

5. Swimming

Unlike the other exercises, swimming can only be done in water (duh!), therefore making it more limiting than other exercises. 

The whole body movement of swimming however, is considered a fun full body work out. 

Whether its freestyle, back stroke, breast stroke or butterfly, you can target and train specific areas of your body while having an ultimate workout. The possibilities are endless.

Now that you've got a list of potential work outs, gear is next. 
Finding a modest gym outfit that fits all activities, whether its to the gym, to the pool or just for every day comfort is a struggle.
