The "ideal model" someone who is size 0 and over 5"8, has been the standard of beauty for quite some time. Finally, after many years of seeing similarly built models, we are seeing some variation on the runway and in magazines.
One specific young lady pushing the barrier is Australian native Madeline Stuart. She is a stunning 18-year-old with Down syndrome who hopes to leave a positive mark on the fashion world.
She gets her fashion inspiration from her supportive mother, Rosanne Stuart, who makes sure to keep up with the latest trends. Maddy loves to dress sporty, but also girly, making her very versatile to different designers.
Recently, Maddy landed two fashion campaigns- one with athletic wear company Manifesta and the other with handbag brand everMaya. For now, Maddy wants to work with smaller companies, and ones with charitable missions so she can help others. Eventually, she'd like to model for Forever21, Versace or Gucci, according to huffingtonpost.com. Offers from different clothing lines and accessory brands keep rolling in, but Maddy remains grounded. Her overall mission is to spread awareness about Down Syndrome and get rid of the stigma surrounding people with disabilities.
We cannot wait to follow Maddy's amazing journey. She is beautiful inside and out and her story inspires us all. We wish her nothing but the best of luck and can't wait to see her coming down the runway in the near future!
